Job purpose/summary:We would like to welcome a General Practice Assistant to join our team at Health and Beyond. We are a large organisation with a friendly team consisting of doctors, nurses, health care assistants, advanced clinical practitioners, clinical pharmacists, pharmacy techs, care co-ordinators, health and wellbeing coaches supported by receptionists, secretaries, IT and administration staff. We are also joined by GP trainees from Birmingham University.
The nursing team is well established and supportive.General Practice Assistants (GPA’s) support the smooth running of clinics by performing clinical tasks and routine clinical administration on behalf of the GP’s and the clinical team, aiming to free up Clinicians time.
Job Responsibilities:
• Venepuncture
• Blood pressure recording
• Administer:COVID VaccinationsInfluenza vaccinesPneumococcal vaccinesShingles vaccinesB12 vaccines
• Collection of specimens as directed
• Urinalysis
• Height and weight measurement
• 24 Hr Blood Pressure monitoring
• Spirometry, peak flow measurements and nebulizing
• Performing ECG and recording
• Basic wound care including 2 layer bandaging
• Removal of sutures/clips etc.
• Perform Home visits/Nursing Home visits at Hub Managers request.
• Assistance in the minor operating suite
• Clinical fridge maintenance & cold chain
• Smoking Cessation and other Health Promotion Activities
• To Assist in routine Child Health Surveillance
• To assist in Chronic Disease Clinics, including monitoring inhaler technique and foot pulses
• To perform NHS Health Checks and New patient checks
• To provide examination of ears and ear syringing in line with protocol
• To support delivery of clinical Quality & Outcomes Framework and QOF+
Undertake the following basic clinical administrative activities as necessary
• Answering the telephone, receiving and transmitting messages
• Filing in forms
• Arranging patient appointments
• Liaise with other health care professionals
• Ordering of equipment and other supplies
• Filing and record keeping as necessary
• To order, monitor and manage clinical supplies
• To ensure clinical supplies are replaced/rotated across all clinical rooms
• To support other Health Care Professionals in the various chronic disease management clinics
• Any clinical tasks as deemed appropriate and supported by individual training
• To record appropriate information in patient held records, clinic records and the practice computer system to comply with legal and professional requirements.
• To maintain confidentiality at all times
• To comply with all appropriate practice policies, clinical practices and protocols
• To comply with health and safety fire regulations and to report accidents/ incidents to the relevant colleagues as soon as practical.Other information:Confidentiality:
